Loi Krathong is one of the most beautiful and meaningful festivals in Thai culture, held on the full moon night of the 12th month (November) to pay respects and offer gratitude to the goddess of rivers.
Krathong floats are made from natural materials such as banana leaves, flowers, and incense candles, carrying one's wishes and symbolic burdens to drift away with the current. In Surin, Loi Krathong has a distinctive character, seamlessly blending Khmer and Kuay cultural elements.
The Office of Arts and Culture organizes the annual Loi Krathong celebration at Bueng Suang, promoting the use of natural and banana-leaf floats instead of foam to protect the environment alongside cultural preservation.
